Faculty Development

Text that reads 'my mission' in cursive font on a brushstroke background.

I work to democratize digital creativity by mobilizing accessible design technologies so that students and teachers can realize their creative potential and narrativize their knowledge, passion, and impact dynamically and intentionally across digital platforms.

My faculty development work lies at the intersection of digital literacy, instructional leadership, & career management.

As a specialist in digital composition and instructional storytelling, I partner with units including
IUB’s Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty and Academic Affairs and professional organizations such as the POD Network to develop programs that empower educators to craft intentional, values-driven teaching brands that resonate across academic and digital spaces. I believe that teachers deserve quality professional development that helps them leverage technology to elevate their instructional practice and manage their careers.

How did I get here?

My investment in faculty development and instructional coaching emerged during my time as Associate Director of Undergraduate Teaching in the Department of English at IUB. In this role, I trained and supported graduate student and post-doctoral instructors teaching digital composition and intensive writing courses and preparing for the job market.

While serving as a Mentor Gardener in IU’s Digital Gardener Faculty Fellows program, I began facilitating regular invited sessions on developing portfolio websites. This work, in addition to the scholarly teaching programming and resources I co-developed with my colleague Miranda Rodak, led to the creation of Branding Your Teaching Excellence, a faculty development framework that drives much of my service supporting teaching excellence on the IUB campus and beyond.

How does my work in the classroom intersect with my faculty development work?

A Bit on BYTE :

At BYTE, we believe teaching excellence deserves more than checklists—it deserves strategic storytelling, evidence-driven reflection, and authentic professional alignment.
