Teaching

  • I design curricula and active learning environments that centralize technology to democratize digital creativity and empower students as both creative producers and critical thinkers.

  • I have taught interdisciplinary writing, literature, and honors courses at Indiana University Bloomington and the University of Georgia.

  • I have participated as a faculty fellow in several initiatives focused on integrating creativity, digital literacy, and career competencies into undergraduate education.

Course Spotlights

What Students Are Saying

  • "I feel like the instructor very effectively communicated and achieved course goals, and I also feel that it was done in a personal and unique way to her teaching style not like it was just copied and pasted from another source. I felt motivated to do the work and participate.”

    HHC-H101 | Education & Its Aims Student

  • "I absolutely LOVED this course. Not only was this course truly helpful but Dr. Stecher was the most kind, understanding, passionate and caring professor I’ve ever had. Her class promoted so much personal growth for me and my writing; that was only possible because of her excellent instruction. Her instruction was the best I’ve ever had. Her course was so interesting, and educational; she made a course that I wasn’t sure I would love fun and easy. Dr. Stecher if you see this (thank you SO much). We need more teachers like you!"

ENG-L206 | Intro to Nonfiction Prose Student

  • "Dr. Stecher made it her mission to make each class engaging, fun, and unique. Dr. Stecher had a wonderful, uplifting, positive, and energetic attitude everyday that made it fun to learn and participate in class. She is insanely organized (and has the most beautiful Canvas page). Assignments are clearly explained to students, as well as what is expected of students. Dr. Stecher is also very flexible and available to meet with students to work through assignments, essays, etc. She is such a bright light and positive person!"

ENG-L205 | Intro to Poetry Student

  • "Dr. Stecher truly cares about you and it shows through her teaching. I never once felt uncomfortable if I needed to ask questions, because I always knew she was there to help me. I couldn't think of a better professor for this course."

    HHC-H101 | Education & Its Aims Student

  • "Professor Stecher is the nicest professor I have ever taken a class with. She is dedicated and really knows how to keep the class moving with new information. I learned so much from her, and I cannot emphasize that enough. If I could retake this course a million times, I would."
